Cheshire Homes recently conducted an inception event for the Financial Inclusion Project in Eastern Province – Chipata. The event, was graced by the Permanent Secretary for Provincial Administration represented by Beauty Undi – Phiri.
Cheshire Homes Society of Zambia (CHSZ) Executive Director, Kamima Ng’uni, gave welcoming remarks to welcome the participants and highlight the purpose of the event. In his speech, he encouraged all stakeholders, partners, and beneficiaries to work closely together in order to ensure the successful implementation of the project.
A vote of thanks was given by the beneficiaries of the Financial Inclusion Project who were represented by Peter Jere, father to Florence Jere of Mchini Primary school in Chipata. Mr. Jere thanked the organisation and the partners
and stakeholders for the initiatives they continue to make to better the lives of Persons living with disabilities.
Speaking at the same event, the guest of honour – Ms. Beauty Undi- Phiri – talked of the importance of talking about finances in a household and also including children in budgeting as it helps children appreciate the efforts of parents and also learn the value of money. She also urged female-headed households
to take advantage of these initiatives brought by Government and its partners such as the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
She advised men to also take part in saving and not leave it up to women. She later thanked SIDA for supporting Government work through FSD Zambia and CHSZ.
She also thanked FSD Zambia for supporting the Government’s goal of Financial Inclusion.
The project aims at improving the financial health of 750 persons with disabilities as well as increasing access to financial services of 750 caregivers of persons with disabilities in Chipata, Chadiza, Katete, Nyimba, Petauke, and Sinda districts of Eastern province, Zambia.
